Elizabeth Anne Read left this earth peacefully for the comfort of her Heavenly Father's arms on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 after a brief battle with cancer. Elizabeth was born to Edward and Rosa Moore and raised in Puerto Rico. There she met her husband of 43 years, Bill, who was by her side until the end. After their wedding, they moved to the states and started their family having three children who with their spouses and children survive her, Bill (Yvonne) and granddaughter Ashley, step grandchildren Tristin and Caitlin of Tulare, Michael (Tammy) of Lompoc, and Susan (Daniel) and granddaughter Kayla of Lompoc.
After moving to Lompoc, Elizabeth worked as a bilingual liaison for the Lompoc Unified School District and worked in the computer lab at Hapgood Elementary School for 18 years. She took great pride and joy in her work and the children she knew. She was a lifelong member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Everywhere she went she made friends, lit up rooms, and touched all she knew in a profound way. Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Others stay awhile, make footprints on our hearts and we are never the same.
Memorial services for Elizabeth will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 4, 2009 at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary with Rev. Msgr. John Fitzgerald of Queen of Angels Catholic Church officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 604 East Ocean Ave, Lompoc 93436.
