The Ries family would like to say goodbye to their loving mother and grandmother Elizabeth "Betty" Ries. She passed away peacefully on Thursday November 24th, 2022.  She is survived by her three children (spouses), Cynthia (Forest), Oliver III (Courtnie), and Mark (Lorie); six grandchildren, Oliver IV, Caleb, Logan, Abigail, Brody and Layla. She has rejoined her dear husband of 51 years Oliver Ries Jr who passed away December 2, 2009.

Betty was born and educated in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and moved to California in the 1950's then to Lompoc in 1971. She was a Professional Administrative Assistant for many years before the kids came along and then she was an amazing housewife and mother. She returned to work in the mid 80's as a secretary for La Purisima School and then retired in the late 90's from Lompoc High School.

Betty was a student of art and was a talented painter. She painted many scenes and portraits of people. She enjoyed spending every minute possible with her grandchildren and boasted about them constantly. She loved decorating her home for Christmas.

Mom, we love you and we will miss you always.

The family will be having a private memorial for her in January at the family ranch.
