Obituary

Elizabeth "Betsy" Wilson, age 73, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2008.
She was born January 15, 1935, the ninth child of thirteen born to George
and Mary Gawreluk in Baudette, MN.

Betsy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Donald Wilson; daughter and
son-in-law, CeCe and Roger Young of Orcutt; sons and daughters-in-law Ron
and Wendy Wilson of San Marcos, CA and Rob and Yajaira Wilson of
Washington, DC; and daughter Letisha of Lompoc, along with 10 grandchildren
and 1 great grandchild. She was also looking forward to the births of two
more great grandchildren early next year.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her eldest sister Dora, and her
older brother, Harry. Surviving older siblings include Bill of Anchorage,
AK; Katy of New Hope, MN; Helen of Duluth, MN; Nick of North Branch, MN;
Lena of Edina, MN; and Annette of Duluth, MN. Surviving younger siblings
are Pete of Minneapolis, MN; Thomas of Georgetown, CA; Theresa of Crown
Point, IN; and Romon of Coon Rapids, MN.

After marrying Don in 1953, she set up households in Lead & Deadwood, SD;
Pascoe, WA; Port St Joe, FL; and El Paso, TX before settling in Lompoc in
1961. She always said that of all the places she lived, Lompoc was her
favorite. Betsy was active in La Purisima Catholic Church and School,
participating in several supporting organizations, and providing room mother
and play ground assistance while her four children attended the school
throughout the 1960s and 1970s. She was an active member of TOPS for 26
years and regularly attended Aquasize classes at the local Municipal Pool.
Since Don's retirement, they've returned to her birthplace and the town in
which they met in northern Minnesota each summer.

Funeral arrangements are with Starbuck-Lind Mortuary with visitation from
4-7 pm on Thursday, November 13. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. The
funeral will be held at La Purisima Catholic Church on Friday November 14 at
10:00 am. Memorial contributions can be made to La Purisima Catholic
School.
