Obituary
Emily L. Sawyer of Lompoc died Sunday, October 31, 2010, at the age of 70.
Emily was born January 25, 1940, to David and Maria Lujan in San Francisco. She was raised and educated in the San Francisco Bay area where she later graduated from nursing school.
Formerly of South Carolina, Emily came to Lompoc in 1975. She was employed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in Solvang and eventually retired as a nurse at the Comprehensive Care Center. She was a member of the Elk's Lodge in Lompoc and La Purisima Catholic Church. She enjoyed shopping, collecting and spending time with her granddaughters.
Emily was preceded in death by her husband Randal "Buzz" Sawyer in 1993. She is survived by her son Randal "Lee" Sawyer, Jr. and his wife Jamie of Lompoc, her sisters Barbara Lujan of Sonoma, and Celia Ator of Castro Valley, and her granddaughters Alivia and Noelle Sawyer. She was also preceded in death by her sister Theresa Kekai.
The visitation will be on Thursday, November 11, from 4-8 pm, and the evening vigil at 7 pm in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Father Tom Cook will celebrate the mass of Christian burial on Friday, November 12, at 10 am at La Purisima Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
