Services for Ernest "Ernie" Thornton, 66, of Lompoc, will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2008 at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the United States Air Force.
Ernest, born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 9, 1942 passed quietly away on October 5, 2008. He was a 1960 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Air Force to eventually become Master Sergeant Ernest Thornton. Upon Retirement, he moved with his family to Lompoc, where he resided until his death after a long term illness.
Ernest was the son of Carrie Thornton and the late Johnnie G. Thornton. He is survived by his wife, Soon Thornton and three children; Robert, Kenneth and Patricia Thompson and three grandchildren. Also included are his three sisters and one brother; Gloria Inman(D.L.), Clara Byas, Janice Humphries(George) and John E. Thornton along with his wife Sachico; and a host of neices, nephews, other relatives and friends.
