IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ernest G.
Tyler, Sr.
July 20, 1946 – November 17, 2022
Ernest Grover Tyler, Sr. passed away peacefully on November 17, 2022, in Lompoc, California. He was 76 years young. Also known as Dad, Ernie, the Big E, Ernst, Uncle Ernie, Papa, and Grandpa. He was born on July 20, 1946, in upstate New York, and was a man of many trades. From fixing cars (and just about anything) to welding, to putting out fires, there wasn't much this man couldn't do. He helped raise five stepdaughters and then a son and daughter of his own.
He spent many years with the Volunteer Fire Department in Accord, New York. Eventually life took him out West to Lompoc, California where he lived out the rest of his life. He was loved, he was funny, he was strong as an ox, and stubborn as a bull. But we remember him most for his jokes and stories. Not a person would get past him without being gifted a witty joke or a lengthy story.
As a young man he most enjoyed hunting and fishing, he always ate what he caught (and usually had some pretty good stories about whatever it was and however he caught it!). In more recent years he enjoyed a good old western on the TV and any of the nature/history shows.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents Grover H. Tyler and Bernice M. Osterhaudt; and brother Claude and sister Audrey.
Ernest is survived by brother Dusty and sisters Suzy, Eunice, and June as well as his stepdaughters, Ruthie, Laurie, Merrie, Jeanie, and Jameie along with his children, Ernest Grover Tyler, Jr. and Laceie Aisling Tyler. He is remembered fondly by his honorary niece, Nicola and grandchildren, nieces, nephews and loving friends.
He is cherished and will be dearly missed.
Please view/sign the guestbook on this post and share a great story, joke, or photo you have experienced with Ernest.
