Obituary
Ethna "Kelly" Sarah Shears, 95, of Lompoc passed away peacefully at her home in Lompoc on Tuesday, April 28, 2015. She was born on June 6, 1919 in Oneonta, New York. She moved to California in 1950.
Kelly was the Director of Christian Education at The Church of our Savior in San Gabriel, CA where she taught the largest Sunday school class of 400. This is where she met her husband Sidney "Herb" Shears who was the Associate Rector. They were married in 1972 at Rock Springs, Wyoming.
Kelly is survived by her three children, daughter Marcia Bradley and sons Jay Douglas and James D. Bookhout (Treva Webster); seven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Kelly and Herb retired to Lompoc where they enjoyed playing golf every day. Kelly was the President of the Women's Village Country Club two different times.
Services will be held on Friday May 1st at 11 am at St. Mary's Episcopal Church with Father Michael Cunningham presiding. Reception following at the church immediately following the service. Inurnment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
