Obituary

Eugene (Geno) Segura entered into eternal life on June 20, 2026. He was 62 years old.

Born January 19, 1964, in Lompoc, California, he was the son of Leopoldo and Margaret Segura. Geno’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was the deeply loved husband of Ann and devoted father to Joseph, Jason, and Jared. He was also the beloved “Papa” to Matthew, Kaeydon, Jaydonn and Grayson.

Geno had an easy, relaxed manner that made people very comfortable being around him. New acquaintances were drawn to him, and if you knew Geno, then you were his friend. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will be forever cherished by his family and many friends.

He worked at the Celite Corporation for 25 years, primarily in the shipping department, and completed his working career as a custodian at Los Berros Elementary School, retiring in 2024.

He was an outstanding athlete, having earned high school all-state honors, placing in the 1982 California State Wrestling Championships. On his way to the state championships, he took first place in the large, prestigious qualifying tournament and was awarded the ‘Outstanding Wrestler’ trophy, a truly impressive feat. These successes earned him a scholarship to wrestle at the college level.

He was also an avid outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. His dad taught him to hunt and fish, skills he enthusiastically passed on to his sons, as witnessed when his son Joe tagged his first buck with Geno by his side. Geno and Joe continued to hunt together for years to come. He traveled far and wide in pursuit of his pastime passions, having gone to Alaska on a fishing trip for sockeye salmon with his brother, Tom. He often went to Colorado to hunt elk with his brothers, cousins, and friends.

Geno is survived by his immediate family, including his brothers Phillip (Deanna), Thomas (Lori), and David (Tracy); his sisters, Marcella and Esther (Mike) Walker; and his father and mother-in-law, Richard and Pat Armero. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Christopher.
