EUGENE L. RUMPFF
1930-2008

Eugene Louis Rumpff of Lompoc passed away August 2, 2008 at the age of 78.

He was born January 6, 1930 in Plymouth, Wisconsin to Louis and Magdalena Rumpff. He was raised and educated in Plymouth, Wisconsin and graduated from Plymouth High School.

Eugene faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force and is a Korean War Veteran. He was stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base for a time in the 1960's, and made Lompoc his permanent home in 1970. His military career spanned 20 years, after which he went to work for the United States Postal Service for the next 20 years.

Eugene was a faithful member and Deacon of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Lompoc. He enjoyed cotillion dancing with his wife, and loved to travel. Most of all, he was a loving, caring, family man and was very protective of those he loved, especially his grandchildren. He was the patriarch of the family and will always be remembered.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Gloria L. Rumpff of Lompoc, sister Elaine Johnson of Ashland, Wisconsin, sons Danniel Rumpff, William and his wife Pun Yong Rumpff, and Richard Rumpff and partner Kim Daniels, grandsons Thomas, Aaron, and Kyle Rumpff, granddaughters Charlene Rumpff, Khristina Partlow (and her husband Michael), Chera Striglio, and Kayla Daniels, great granddaughters Sandra and Halie Partlow, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Dorothy Mullen and Diane Weister, brother Donald Rumpff, and grandson John Rumpff.

A memorial service for Eugene will take place at Bethany Lutheran Church on Friday, August 15, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Joseph Byrd to officiate, followed by inurnment with military honors provided by Vandenberg Air Force Base in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery Columbarium.
