Mrs. Evelyn L. Grossi, 86 of Lompoc, went to be with our heavenly Father on July 26, 2016, with family by her side. Evelyn was born and raised in the Lompoc Valley. She worked at the Lompoc Record in the 1950s taking pictures and developing. She also ironed and babysat many children. She loved children. Then she met the love of her life, Wallace C. Grossi, Jr. They married and had one son, Wallace C. Grossi, III.
Evelyn loved life. She enjoyed supporting our local Chumash Casino, her church and being there for her family and friends. She will be best known for the slippers that she knitted for everyone affectionately known as "killer slippers." She loved sports, all of them, including baseball, softball, football, wrestling and gymnastics, but mostly loved watching all of her family participate.
She loved her family the most. Her son and daughter-in-law, Wally and Tammie; her granddaughters Sarah (Kevin) Harmon Grossi and Hillarie (Andrew) Savier, plus her precious great grandson, Wyatt James.
Evelyn is also survived by her brother Jule R. Silva; two brothers-in-law, Frank Hain and Willard Grossi. Her family will miss her dearly, but her memoires will live on in our hearts forever.
The family will be celebrating her life on Thursday, August 4, with a rosary at 6:00 pm at La Purisima Catholic Church in Lompoc. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, August 5, at La Purisima Catholic Church followed by a grave side service at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. A reception immediately after at the Parish Hall across from the Church in Lompoc until 2:00 pm.
