Felix L. Zamora, Jr. of Lompoc died Monday, November 9, 2015, at the age of 67.
Felix was born September 8, 1948, in Edinburg, Texas to Felix and Maria de Jesus Zamora. After graduating from Edinburg High School he joined the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Thailand during the Viet Nam War. After 20 years of service he retired in 1987.
A resident of Lompoc since 1988, Felix was employed as a civil servant at Vandenberg Air Force Base as a supply specialist and later as a bookkeeper at the base hospital.
Felix was a coach for the Special Olympics. He was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing Pinochle and being the designated food quality control expert at family barbeques.
Felix is survived by his wife of 44 years, Amalia "Nellie" Zamora of Lompoc; daughter Carmen Zamora of Lompoc; brother Ernesto (Eustolia) of Tracy, California; sisters Maria de Jesus (Eli) Luna of Harlingen, Texas, Yolanda (Hermillio) Careon of Edinburg, Texas, and Eva (Ismael) Rodriguez of Seguin, Texas.
The visitation will be Thursday, November 12, from 4-8pm with the evening vigil starting at 6pm in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Father Lawrence Santos will celebrate the mass of Christian burial on Friday, November 13, at 1:00 pm, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Interment with military honors will follow in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
