Fern Bertha Whitmer Munn Jones died on August 6, 2008, in Spanish Fork, Utah, age 83.

Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend passed peacefully from this earthly existence on August 6, 2008 with her daughter, Cheryl, by her side. Fern was born July 7, 1925 in Alpine, Arizona, the 15th of 17 children born to Angus VanMeter Whitmer and Sarah Jane Judd. She married Melvin Harold Munn, Jr. December 14, 1944 in Salome, Arizona. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple. She later married Robert F. Jones March 3, 1987 in the Jordan River Temple.

Fern was always a faithful and dedicated member of the LDS Church and had a strong testimony of the Savior. Melvin and Fern faithfully served a mission to the St. Louis Missouri Mission from 1980-81. Fern served in both the Los Angeles and Jordan River Temples which she greatly loved. She instilled a great love for the Gospel and temple service in her children and grandchildren.

Fern was full of energy and was very active until the last few years. She had a great sense of humor and was fun and loving to all. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing to her children and grandchildren. Fern was a fabulous cook and loved to garden and fish.

Fern was preceded in death by her parents, 14 siblings and both of her husbands. She is survived by two sisters, Faye Blanche Adams and Mary Montierith, and her four children: Harold (Teresa), Springville; Cheryl, Sandy; Ethie, Bakersfield, California; and Gary (Sandy.); New Harmony, Utah. She is survived by 24 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren who will miss her greatly.

We are so very happy Mom is finally with our dad, Melvin. She longed for that day they could be together again. We love them both so very much.

Private family services were held at Memorial Mortuary in Murray, Utah. Fern will be buried next to her dear husband, Melvin, in Lompoc, California.
