Fran was born in Redlands, CA and passed away in Lompoc after a short but strong fight with pancreatic cancer. She was a resident of Lompoc for 55 years.
Fran was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. She continued a career with the government as a civil service employee. Fran worked for the Navy and retired as a management analyst with the U.S. Air Force after 31 years of service. After retirement, she volunteered at the Lompoc Public Library. She actively participated in many non-profit organizations including Friends of the Library, P.E.O., Daughters of the American Revolution, Girls Club and Soroptimist. She loved to travel and had visited all seven continents. We will always remember her for her enthusiasm, dedication and wonderful smile.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Jay Houston, and sister, Alice Haskins. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Robert Wilson; nieces and nephews, Sanford Haskins, Paul Haskins, Patricia Wilson, John Wilson and Nancy Wilson; one grandniece and two grandnephews. In addition to her family, she leaves behind many friends.
At her request, no services will be held. Private burial will be at the Lompoc Cemetery.
