Obituary

Frances Isabel Hannah (Sippel) Wilks, a longtime resident of Lompoc, California, died Friday, December 22, 2017. Frances was born to Albert Del and Hannah Sippel on October 26, 1922, in Wiseton, Saskatchewan, Canada. She spent most of her youth as a resident of Flin Flon, Manitoba, Canada. Her family is still remembered by the local geographical feature of Sippel Hill. Her family home is still located at the top of the hill.

Her family moved to the United States in 1936 and located in Bakersfield, California. She met and married Nicolas Kavanaugh. Her first child, Nancy (Lloyd) Taylor, was born in 1939. The marriage was short lived. After the divorce, she fell in love with her soulmate, Charles Edward Wilks. This marriage happened on July 17, 1942, and was to endure the test of time. Frances and Charles contributed twelve more beautiful children: Bertha (Robert) Lebel, Charlene Cahill, Beatrice (Leroy) Stricklin, Lorraine (Ronald) Stricklin, Charles Jr. (Betty) Wilks, Vivian (Wayland) Williams, Richard (Lola) Wilks, Teresa (Wayne) Marrs, Lawrence (Carol) Wilks, Janet Nightingale, Carl Wilks and Gerald Wilks.

Preceding Frances in death were her parents, beloved husband, daughters Charlene and Lorraine, and her son Charles. Her legacy lives on by 31 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and numerous great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at 12 noon, at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. A reception following the service is planned at the Lompoc Elks Lodge. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.
