Francisca died peacefully at the age of 81, on May 19, 2021, at Lompoc Valley Hospital. She was born on March 3, 1940, in Banos de Montemayor, Spain. When Francisca was sixteen the family comprising of herself, her mother, two brothers and a sister, moved to Madrid. Francisca's father died in 1942, of injuries sustained in the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War.
Francisca immediately became employed by the U.S. Army-Air Force Exchange Service working at the Air Ministry in downtown Madrid. In 1958, Francisca was transferred to the US Air Force base at Torrejon, Spain just outside of Madrid where she met her husband Air Force Sergeant Jim Milata. They were married on August 6, 1960. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2020.
In addition to her parents, Fran was predeceased by her two brothers, Enrique and Damian, and older sister Maruja. Surviving, are her son Miguel and his wife Teresa of Aranjuez, Spain, and daughter Julie and her husband Mark Maccan of Littleton, Colorado. Fran had four grandchildren: Amber Maccan Rego, Rachel Maccan Torres, Alyssa Maccan Jackson and David Milata. Fran also had three great-grandchildren: Hudson Rego, Colby Rego, and Josie Jackson.
Through her last years and days, Fran loved cooking, visiting family here and abroad and she maintained a passion for her beloved pugs (children). Her favorite dish was her famous Paella, a famous dish throughout her beloved Spain. Most of all she loved her family, which was always her priority in life.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 6 , 2021, at 4 pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Reception to follow.
