Obituary

Frank Houston Hilley, 76, of Lompoc California, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2023.

Frank was born on November 2nd, 1946, to Sam and Alice Hilley in Glendale, California. After Frank graduated from Lompoc High School in 1966, he was drafted by the Army. Frank served with the 101st Airborne Bravo Company 2nd 501st Infantry as a Private First Class in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. Frank was awarded the Bronze Star for his bravery and acts of meritorious service in combat conditions.

Upon returning from combat, Frank started working for his father Sam as a brick mason. The Hilley family completed many public and private masonry/construction projects in the Lompoc Valley and neighboring Santa Barbara County communities. Frank enjoyed the work, and loved the projects that allowed him to bring his love for art into his craft. Frank worked as a brick mason for over 40 years while working beside his brothers Mike and Sam.

Frank will be remembered by his family as a fun-loving, big-hearted man who had a passion for animals, the outdoors, and art. He was an extremely talented watercolor artist and focused most of his retirement mastering his landscape watercolor paintings.

Frank was predeceased by his father Sam, mother Alice, and his two brothers Mike and Sam. He is survived by his sons Dereck, Jared (his wife Jessica, and grandsons Cassidy and Rowan) and Joshua.

A service honoring Frank will be held at the Lompoc Cemetery at a date to be determined. The family would like to thank the ICU staff at the Lompoc Valley Medical Center for their support.
