Frank J. Johnston Jr. died peacefully on February 5, 2014 at the age of 76.
He was a kind, gentle and giving soul, and a great husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Frank was born July 13, 1937, in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania to Frank and Helen Johnston. He graduated from Bridgeville High in 1956. He was enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1956-1962. He worked for McDonnell Douglas Corp. from 1962 to 1970, Bionetics from 1970 to 1982 and Lockheed Martin from 1982 to 1998 before retiring.
Frank established Boy Scout Troop 64 in 1972. He loved to volunteer his time helping with the Lompoc Drum and Bugle Corp and Lompoc Little League Baseball. Frank was a member of the Vandenberg Gun Club and Lompoc Elk's Lodge 2274.
Frank loved his woodworking, but most of all his family.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marie Antoinette Johnston (Toni) of Lompoc, his son Frank J. Johnston III and his wife Christina of LaVerne, Ca, his daughter Tina Marie Davis and her husband Chris of Lompoc, and his sister Maxine Kobert of Erie, Pa. He had 5 grandchildren Felicia, Jake, Noah, Scott and Levi.
He was proceeded in by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at North Avenue Baptist Church at 10:00 am on Monday, February 10, 2014.
