Frank Robert Prater, Senior passed away at the age of 89 on Tuesday March 24, 2009
He was born December 11, 1919, in Colfax, Washington to Wiley and Zula Prater. He served his country for 20 years in the United States Navy. A portion of that time was during World War II where he served in the Pacific Theater. After retiring from the Navy in San Diego, he obtained a job in the Parks Department of the City of Lompoc.
A resident of Lompoc since 1962, Frank was a member of the Trinity Church of the Nazarene, and Branch 292 of the Fleet Reserve.
The last several years of his life was spent caring for his wife Barbara Lee Moody Prater who survives him and is living in Lompoc. He is also survived by his son Frank Robert Prater, Jr. and his granddaughter Peggy Jean Prater both currently living in Arizona.
Cremation will be followed by interment at sea, under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Those wishing to honor Frank Senior may send donations to the Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor, Ford Island, Hawaii.
