Obituary

Franklin Anthony Coleman, Frank, was born on June 17, 1983, in Montgomery, Alabama to Franklin S. and Paulette Coleman. He left this Earth unexpectedly at the age of 39 on June 28, 2022.

His early years were spent traveling across the country and overseas with both of his military parents who served in the United States Air Force. From 1986 to 1993 his family was stationed at McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, Washington. This is where he first acquired an interest in playing Soccer. Most who knew him knew him as being extremely athletic. Beginning at the age of seven, Frank was the leading scorer on every soccer team he played for and remained undefeated for the duration of the time he played in Tacoma, Washington.

In 1993, his family moved overseas to Rhein Main, Germany. Being overseas provided Frank the opportunity to play "futbol" for different club teams and to travel all over Germany, France, and Italy showing off his athletic skills. In his first season playing soccer, Frank scored 26 goals in 6 games. He was so dominant on the playing field that after turning 12 he was advanced to the 13-15 years age group just to have some actual competition. He continuously led his team in goals and "hat tricks." In fact, he scored so much that his coach would have to tell him to stop. Off the field, he maintained a mellow yet witty personality that many grew to know and love. While in Germany, his love for soccer continued to grow along with friends that he met who will share sports memories with him well into his high school playing years.

After their three-year tour in Germany, his family moved to Lompoc, California in 1996 where he attended Vandenberg Middle School and discovered his passion for basketball and track and field. His first basketball dunk was in the 8th grade, but it didn't stop there. In 1997, as a freshman at Cabrillo High School, he was placed on the varsity basketball team. His accomplishments while at Cabrillo were noted by many and highlighted in the news and local newspapers. In 2000, his junior year, his team took the title of League Champions. His ability to "jump out of the gym," proved to be advantageous on the court, as he won numerous dunk contests, but also on the track field where he competed in the high jump, long jump, and ran the 400 m. There in Lompoc, he started dating his high school sweetheart and future wife, Jessica. Throughout high school, they shared the same love and passion for basketball and track and field. In his senior year, he transferred to Lompoc High School where he continued sports and graduated in 2001. Outside of sports, he enjoyed music, throwback movies, and going out with friends.

After high school, he took courses at Allen Hancock College in Lompoc, and Auburn University in Montgomery, Alabama. He stayed active by playing league tournaments and pickup games across the Central Coast of California; Beatty Park, Vandenberg AFB Fitness Center, Trinity Church of the Nazarene, Allen Hancock College, and Santa Ynez High School were just some of the places where he participated and made lifelong friends who enjoyed the same things as he did.

Throughout his early adult years, his relationship with Jessica flourished as their life together began. He was always a hard worker whether it be on or off the field or court, which carried over into his professional life. His career in Federal Service began as a Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF) employee when he worked at the Vandenberg AFB Golf Course and Lodge. He quickly saw an opportunity for growth within Civil Service and took a General Schedule position at the Vandenberg AFB Child Development Center in 2007. His time there was short but invaluable as Jessica, his then fiancé', became pregnant. Shortly before welcoming their only child, Jeremyah, he accepted a position at the Civil Engineer's office on Vandenberg AFB where he stayed for years to follow.

His blessing from God, Jeremyah, was born December 6, 2008, in Lompoc. He was a wonderful father who is remembered as being protective, patient, family-oriented, and loving. After marrying his high school sweetheart on June 9, 2014, he moved to England with his wife and son where they lived for the next five years. While living overseas, he worked at the Military Base Commissary and picked up his favorite pastime sport, soccer, by attending various live soccer matches with his son and friends. Liverpool Futbol Club was just one of the many club teams he got the opportunity to watch play on their home field. He also enjoyed traveling and sightseeing with his family. As a family, they visited multiple countries including, Ireland, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, and Scotland.

As Frank and his wife continued to follow their active Civil Service careers, they arrived at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona in April 2019. While at Luke AFB he returned to the Civil Engineer squadron and received a position as a Supply Technician. He truly enjoyed the job he did and the colleagues he worked with on a daily basis. In 2021, he and his wife were blessed to have bought their first home in Waddell, Arizona. Before his passing, he made long lasting memories with his family which will be cherished each and every day that goes by his wife and son.

He leaves his legacy and life-long memories with those he is survived by; his parents, Franklin S. and Paulette Coleman of Montgomery, Alabama; wife, Jessica A. Coleman; son, Jeremyah S. Coleman; brother, Tarence S. Coleman (Andrea) of San Diego, California; uncles, William A. Coleman of Long Beach, California, Ernest C. Roberts of Columbia, South Carolina, and Michael N.
