Obituary

Frederick Raymond Collins passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, at the age of 91.

Frederick was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Martin Nithman and Catherine Waszwillow.

Frederick enlisted in the United States Army National Guard on April 15, 1950, and served in the Korean War. He was Honorably discharged in 1953 at the rank of Private First Class.

Frederick married his wife, JoAnn Marie Cooper, at the Santa Barbara Courthouse on December 18, 1953, and they were married for 71 years before her passing just last month.

Frederick lived his adult years in Lompoc, and attended Allan Hancock College, earning an associate's degree in Math and Engineering. He worked as an Electronics Technician in Aerospace for 50 years.

He loved the outdoors, which led him to being a Scout Master for the Lompoc Methodist Church. He also enjoyed camping at the beach with his kids. He was known to be a fixer of all things, and many people would come to him for help when they needed something fixed.

Frederick was preceded in death by his wife, father, mother, paternal and maternal grandparents, one brother, one grandson, cousins, and friends. He is survived by 4 children, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

At his request, there will not be any services. He will be laid to rest at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
