Gail Yvonne Friberg, 53, passed away in the loving arms of her family on Sunday, January 25, 2009. Gail was born on September 9th, 1955 in Red Bluff, California. She grew up in Southern California and graduated from Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta. As a young military wife, Gail lived in various places, including Germany, Texas and California, raising her two daughters and loving life as a mom! She worked for a very short time in the banking industry. Gail was a wonderful artist, expressing exquisite beauty in her paintings, drawings and sculptures. Her sense of humor and ability to laugh at herself and share her laughter with others was one of Gail's strongest attributes. In 1987, Gail suffered a stroke which left her a quadriplegic. Despite her incapacities, Gail continued to be a wonderful mom, grandma, sister, and daughter; always involved and interested in the lives of those she loved and treasured. She was truly one of earth's angels, courageous and strong through her physical struggles. She will be greatly missed. Her arrival in heaven must have been a sight to behold as she accepted her heavenly body and found peace eternal!
Gail was preceded in death by her father, Wilford Strange. She is survived by her daughters Erica Hoover of Ontario, CA and Sarah Friberg, of Lompoc; her grandchildren, Madilyn, Jillian, Aaron and Avram; her mom, Rhea Strange of Lompoc; brothers Randy (Donna) Strange of Manteca, CA, and Mark (Alicia) Strange of Sioux City, Iowa; sister Carrie (Stan) Jeffers of Solvang, CA, numerous nieces and nephews who adored her, and those amazing friends who stood by and supported Gail all these years!
Gail's family wishes to express loving and heartfelt thanks to the staff at Buena Vista Care Center in Goleta who took such great care of Gail while she lived there. Words alone are not enough to tell you how much we appreciate you.
In honor of Gail's beautiful and simple life, we will have simple and private family services. Gail will be buried with her father at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery in Lompoc.
