Obituary

Services honoring the life of Gale B. Walton, 78 of Lompoc, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at the Lompoc Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1312 E. Prune Avenue with Bishop Doug Pike presiding. Burial follows at Lompoc Cemetery with military honors.

A native of Cleveland, Idaho, Gale was born January 10, 1928 to Del and Athleen Pratt Walton. He was employed for 60 years in construction as a general contractor with time away to serve with the U. S. Navy during World War II. He came to Lompoc in 1959 from the Antelope Valley and was an active and devoted member of the Lompoc Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In his earlier years, Gale enjoyed hunting, fishing and panning for gold. As a loving father, he also coached Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball. He was an avid sports enthusiast and a loyal fan of the New York Yankees.

Gale died Thursday, November 16, 2006 at Lompoc Hospital.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Alta of Lompoc, daughters, Debbie Dimock and Tracie Walton-Henry both of Lompoc, sons, Kim (Marty) Walton of Creston and Dane (Donna) Walton of Long Beach, sister, Beulah Mendenhall of Provo, Utah, nine grandchildren, Kirby, David, Rodney, Tyler, Shelbie, Brittany, Carly, Kelly and Hunter, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Gale was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Dorothy and brothers, Kay and LaDell.

The family will greet friends in the Relief Society Room at the church from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday.
