Eugene "Gene" Gumplo of Lompoc died Monday, November 12, 2007, at the age of 63.
Gene was born December 2, 1943, in California to Lewis and Alice Gumplo. Formerly of Carpinteria, he had been a resident of Lompoc since 1972. He was the owner of Pacific Coast Distributors, a Lompoc-based office supplier. He was an inventor and holder of a number of patents. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lompoc. He loved music and was the director and vocalist in a choral in the Carpinteria community.
Gene is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cathy Gumplo of Lompoc; children, Tanya Alice Crompe of Lompoc, Denise Vivian Tomlinson of Santa Maria, Paul Eugene Gumplo of Rancho Santa Margarita, and Clair Jeanette Bryan of Helena, Montana; sister, Suzanne Gumplo Ballard of Greenville, Texas; ten grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2007 at 2 pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 1600 Berkeley Drive in Lompoc. Cremation will be followed by private inurnment.
Memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 100 East Locust Avenue in Lompoc.
