Gene Travis passed away April 23, 2018 at the age of 81.  He was preceded in death by his two sons Gene Travis Jr., Wayne Travis as well as his daughter Cindy Willis.  He leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Marty Travis, his son Dale Travis, stepchildren Stephanie Kennedy and John Harter.  Gene is also survived by his beloved 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Gene served in the United States Navy from 1953-1961.  He continued his career in Aerospace as a Missile Technician specializing in optics.  Gene's successes included his significant role in the Atlas and Titan eras.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.  He will forever be remembered by the unconditional love he had for his family and his many honorable accomplishments.  Gene will be missed by all.

Graveside services will be held at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery on May 2, 2018 at 11 am with a celebration of his life following the service.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project, for that was a charity which Gene was highly devoted to.
