George Abner Backholm

George was born April 29, 1926 to John and Ida Backholm at the home of his Grandparents John and Wilhelmina Backholm in rural Sebeka, Minnesota.

After high school he served two years in the United States Navy where he trained in electronics and served in China in 1946.  He got his degree in Electronics from the University of Minnesota in June 1950.  His career nearly spanned the cold war and every job was related to it in some way.  He retired from Civil Service at Vandenberg AFB after nearly twenty five years of Government service.

He had lived in Seattle, Washington, Washington D.C.; Brussels, Belgium; Palo Alto, California; Del Mar, California; and since July 1965 in Lompoc, California.

Preceding him in death were his parents John and Ida Backholm, Brother Floyd and one niece.  Surviving his death are his brother John and wife Beatrice, four nephews and three nieces.

His hobbies were Ethnic and ballroom dancing and genealogy.  Other interests include downhill skiing, golf, and cricket.  He danced with the Solvang Village Dancer for twenty eight seasons.

Interment is planned in the family plot in the Green Valley cemetery in rural Menahga, Minnesota.
