George Anton Kozumplik of Lompoc died Monday, November 5, 2007, at the age of 86. He was born April 29, 1921 in Brooklyn, New York to Mary and Joe Kozumplik.
George came to Lompoc in 1961 from Japan, where he served in the United States Air Force during WWII. He retired from the military in 1966, and from civil service in 1997.
He was a member of the Vandenberg Air Force Base Rod and Gun Club, Lompoc Sportsman Association, and a member of La Purisima Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Diane Kozumplik, son Robert Kozumplik of Arizona, son Tony Kozumplik of Lompoc, daughter Frances Nesbitt of Ohio, daughter Barbara Kozumplik of Redwood City, daughter Bonnie Siminski of Loomis, daughter Heather Kozumplik of Lompoc, sister Martha Weatherall of Simi Valley, brother Sonny Kozumplik of Redding, as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Daughter Dora Kozumplik of Lompoc preceded him in death in 2001.
The memorial mass will be celebrated by Father John Fitzgerald on Thursday, November 15th at 10:00 am at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 3495 Rucker Road in Mission Hills. The graveside service with military honors will follow at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to the Special Olympics in George's name.
