Geraldine "Jeri" Lucille Jones of Lompoc died Sunday, March 9, 2014, at the age of 86.
Jeri was born November 30, 1927, in Rice Lake, Wisconsin to Charles and Lucille Hughes. At the age of 12 her family moved to Oregon. She graduated from high school in Junction City and completed her education by earning a bachelor's degree in home economics.
Formerly of Ventura, Jeri has been a resident of Lompoc since 1968. A lifelong homemaker she was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was a member of The First United Methodist Church in Lompoc, the United Methodist Women, the AAUW and the Doll Club. She enjoyed cooking and doll collecting.
Jeri is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Jack Jones. She is also survived by her five sons, David Charles Jones of Sparks, Nevada, Douglas Richard Jones of Lompoc, Larry Daniel Jones of Charlotte, North Carolina, Jeffery Todd Jones of Umitilla, Oregon and Bradley Earl Jones of Lompoc, 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Peter Jones, her three sister Delphine Laveau, Opaline Peetz and Maridine Rasheed and two brothers Elwood "Jack" Hughes and Eldon "Bud" Hughes.
There will be a memorial service at the First United Methodist Church on Friday, March 14, at 12 noon followed by a reception in the church's fellowship hall. The private interment service will be in the Lompoc Cemetery.
