Geraldine "Jerri" Lane Londot
Geraldine "Jerri" Lane Londot was born in Kirbyville, Texas on March 28, 1927 and passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 82 years of age. It was as if she were a tender rose...one that was softly opening to welcome a new day. Only this was the dawn of her new life. A life without restriction of a body that no longer responded to her active mind, but a new body now without pain, suffering, tears, or sorrow. Jerri was the beloved daughter of Alexander Campbell Lane and Willie Pearl Martin who preceded her in death. She had three sisters and a brother who also preceded her in death.
A mentor to many and a trusted friend to all who knew her, she will be greatly missed by everyone whose life she has touched. She had the deepest of love for her family and friends and loved every day she spent with them. The legacy she leaves behind is most notably her ever-present faith in God, her inspiring strength, her abundance of self-reliance, and a deep love and devotion for her family.
She married after high school and stayed at home to care for her children. She instilled into her children a deep devotion to God while walking a life of faith. Later she worked for Christian schools and organizations where she further touched the lives of many others. Many will remember her unique combination of wisdom and humor.
Her family was the most important thing in the world to her, often making sacrifices personally to assist each one. She was also quick to recognize a need outside the home and often reached out to help others who were less fortunate. Everyone in her life will deeply miss the prayer warrior she was. She spent most of her free time reading the Bible, singing hymns, or on her knees praying to Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior.
In addition, she loved music. She belonged to glee clubs and chorals in her schooling years as well as the choir of her home church. She inspired the love of music in the hearts of her children. In turn, they all played instruments and participated in school bands and church orchestras. Jerri, throughout life, was a bundle of energy and the very force of industry in the home.
A loving and inspirational mother and grandmother, she leaves behind three sons and a daughter, ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her son Kenneth Logan Londeaux with his wife Virginia and their children: Bryan Matthew Londot with his wife Shelly and Christine Michelle Forbes with her Husband Jason. Her daughter Kathryn Sue Whetstone with her husband Jack W. and their children: J. Darren Whetstone with his wife Kerrie, and Cheri Whetstone. Her son Gregory Lee Londot with his wife Donna and their children: Nicole and Zachary Londot. Lastly, her son Victor Harold Londot with his wife Patty and their children: Lauren, Kayleigh, and Melissa Londot. In addition, there are six great grandchildren: Samson Jack, Christopher John, Nicholas, Alexander Wayne and Ashlynd Kendall Whetstone and Aurora Rose Londot. Jerri also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Visitation hours will be held Monday, November 30, 2009 at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. Family may receive friends one hour prior to the 1:00 p.m. service on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at the mortuary. Interment will follow at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
