GERY MACAYANA MAGALONG
1927 – 2008
Gery Macayana Magalong, 81, of Lompoc, died on Sunday, December 28, 2008. He was born on May 12, 1927, in the Philippine Islands to Eufimiano and Maxima Magalong.
Gery served four years in the United States Navy during World War II. Gery earned Degrees in Architectural Design and was employed at VAFB as a civil servant architectural engineer for 32 years. Gery was one of the founding fathers and the charter president of the Lompoc American-Filipino Club.
Gery is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beverly; his daughters, Jeanie Magalong and Brenda (Carlos) Toledo of Lompoc; his son, Gery (Roberta) Magalong of Santa Clara; grandchildren, Charles Adams III, Nicolas Gaitan, Jr., Gervacio Magalong, Tiana (Dale) Hall, Rico Tomaz, Jr., Chanel (Gabriel)Toledo-Navarro, and Chanina (Dante)Toledo-Courtney; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, 2009, from 4 to 8 pm with a rosary at 5 pm in the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held at 8:30 am on Saturday, January 10, 2009, at the Queen of Angels Catholic Church. After the mass, Gery's family and friends will gather at the Lompoc Veterans Memorial Building, 100 East Locust Avenue, at 11:30am.
Interment will be held at a later date.
