Gilbert F. Herrera was a Lompoc native born July 13, 1931 to Jesse and Carolina Herrera. He passed away quietly on August 30, 2017 the age of 86.
Gilbert was a gentle man with a caring heart for his family and friends. He was a man of strong faith. He served as an elder in the local congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses since the early 1960's.
Gilbert met and married the love of his life. Gloria Marie Munoz in Lompoc. On May 5, 1957
They married. He has now joined his parents, wife and son-in-law, Marcus McIntosh, awaiting the resurrection to life.
He is survived by his children, Deborah Suzanne McIntosh and Gilbert F. Herrera Jr.; his grandchildren Katlynn and Collin Herrera, numerous nieces and nephews, siblings, Bobby. Tony and Marlene Herrera.
His great joy was spending time with his grandchildren, the tears and laughter. Gilbert worked at John Mansville all his adult life, retiring in 1986, after 30 some years on the hill.
The family would like to thank you very much for all your loving gentle care to our father Gilbert during his life with us. Thanks to our wonderful caregivers in how they showed so much care and love to him. Also Hospice and Meridian caregivers. We thank you so very much for watching over him and making him feel he was special. He was! A man of laughter and happiness. Our thanks go to Jehovah God our Father in heaven that made it possible to have such wonderful professional people in our lives.
Memorial services will be conducted by Michael Diggs on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Anderson Recreation Center, 125 West Walnut Avenue, Lompoc.
If you wish to send flowers to his memorial service, they must be delivered before 1:00 pm to the Recreation Center.
