Obituary

Gilbert Sattler, Jr. followed his beloved 8 days after her passing and went to be with the Lord on June 3, 2011.

Gil was born in Los Angeles, California on May 25, 1938. He was raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and San Diego, California. Gil attended and graduated from La Jolla High School in 1957 where he played football and was part of the Civil Air Patrol. After high school he worked for Pacific Bell and was part of the Naval Reserve from 1957 to 1961. Gil then joined the Air Force where he was stationed in Vandenberg and served as a launch systems specialist. After leaving the Air Force, Gil joined ITT where he worked until he retired in 1999. He worked on various space and missile projects such as Apollo, Titan II, III, IV, & V, Space Shuttle, and Strategic Defense Initiative. Gil completed his associate's degree in math at Alan Hancock College.

Gil was very active in the community. He served on the board of the Lompoc Youth Football association, taught computer classes at Alan Hancock College, and was very involved in the American Legion Post 125 in Lompoc. With the Legion he served as post commander and 16th District Commander.

Gil is survived by his brother, Ken Sattler of Lawrenceville, Georgia; his sons and daughter-in-laws Marlon and Lynn Clark of Fallon, Nevada, Harold and April Clark of Kihei, Maui, Punahele and Stacey Sattler of Palmdale, California; his grandchildren Katherine Dirk (Josh), James Clark (Stacey), Sanoe Clark, Noelani Clark, Kealii Clark, Bryan Sattler, and Trevor Sattler; his great-grandson Aiden Dirk; numerous nieces and nephews.
