Obituary

Gibby passed away Sunday, August 12, 2018, at 47 years young.  He was born February 15, 1971, raised in Lompoc and graduated from Lompoc High School with the class of '89.  He is survived by his four sons, Zachary, Hunter, Grant and Luke; his mother Elsie and stepdad Virgil Cortez; three brothers, Richard, Michael and David, and Grandma Rose and many, many family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father Richard Terrones, nephew Mikey Terrones, Grandpa Al, Tio, Grandma and Grandpa Terrones, and cousin Alexis.

Gibby was a wonderful and amazing man, father, son, brother, uncle, nino and friend.  He created special memories with each family member that will last forever in their hearts.  Gibby had a great passion for coaching his sons and all their friends even when he was yelling from the sidelines.  As the boys got older he was proud to watch them grow into great athletes and still cheering and yelling from the sidelines.  Anyone who knew Gibby understood his passion for sports and teaching the game.  He always wore his Lompoc hat with great pride.  When he was not attending sports, he enjoyed being an Uber driver for his sons and crusin' to the casino to get a few lucky hands.  He enjoyed playing cards with family, especially with his boys, Dad and Uncle Barney, teaching the boys at a young age.  He loved camping, spending the day at red rock and enjoying days at the beach watching his boys boogie board across the waves.

Gibby worked as a painter for many years and put perfection into everything he did.

The last year and a half he fought a tough battle with cancer and we couldn't be prouder of him.  We are very thankful and blessed for each day he conquered his battle.  We love you Gibby with all our hearts!

It is with great sadness that we have to say goodbye until we meet Gibby again in heaven.

The visitation will be Thursday, August 23, from 5-7pm at Starbuck Lind Mortuary.  The funeral service will be Friday, August 24, at 10am at Trinity Church of the Nazarene followed by burial in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at North Avenue Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
