Glenda Janice Rains (Jan) passed away peacefully at home ending her year long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family and her loving husband Gerald of 59 years. Jan was born January 22, 1942, to Beatrice and Henry Rhodes in Wardell, Missouri.

Gerald and Jan married May 9, 1958 in Bakersfield, California. They moved to Lompoc in 1962 where Gerald worked at Johns Manville. Eventually the couple bought a home in Mission Hills where they raised 4 children. Jan worked at the Mission Hills Market and was known and loved by everyone. She enjoyed playing bingo, traveling, shopping, but most of all Jan loved her family, especially loving her grand babies. She always made you feel at home. She will be truly missed.

Jan is survived by her husband, Gerald, their children Michael, Lisa (Barry), Kevin (Dawn), and Arnold (Laura); grandchildren, Mike, April, Christina (Kevin), Elysha (Marc), Sheri, Tony, Lynsey, Taylor (Michonne), Evan, Marisa, Lisa Marie, Francesca; great grandchildren Sean, Emalee, Alex, Braden, Jason, Autumn, Tyler, Cody, Kyle, and Riley; her brother Arnold Morris (Chris) of Columbia, South Carolina; sister Rita Ward of Bakersfield; sister-in-law Berlene, Esta Lee, and Kathy of Bakersfield, Lauren of Lompoc, Rhonda of Yucca Valley; brother-in-law Harlin of Lompoc; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, mother-in-law Marie, Sister-in-law Bernice of Missouri, Evelyn of Bakersfield, brother-in-law Jerry and Wayne of Lompoc.

The family would like to thank the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care and their staff, Billy, Melissa, and Janice, for their dedicated work in our home. We would also like to thank Dr. Jonathan Berkowitz and staff at the oncology clinic in Solvang, Ca.

Services will be taken place privately for the family.
