IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gloria
Willis
July 16, 1930 – October 3, 2020
Dr. Gloria Willis passed away the morning of October 3, 2020.
Gloria was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on July 16, 1930, and lived in her words, "a wonderful life." She survived the passing of her son Herbert "Sluggo" Wise Jr., her husband Clarence Willis and baby sister Joyce.
Gloria was a stalwart for the youth of the Lompoc Valley, and fighter for Social Justice. She was also my Grandma. From the time she met me at five years old, we had a special bond. Even when that bond was tested, she never stopped loving and caring. Gloria was loved and cherished by many and probably misunderstood by most, but her heart was pure, and nothing made her smile brighter than the sound of a child. She and her infectious laugh will be missed by her surviving family and friends.
In her final years she was cared for by her devoted niece, Denise, grandson, Donald and his wife Rebecca. Gloria is survived by her older brother Nathaniel and a host of family back East in the Maryland and Washington D.C. area, as well as a host of family in Louisiana, California and all over these United States of America. She will be missed!
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Psalms 23
There will be a public viewing on Friday, October 9th from 3-7pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. The livestreamed interment ceremony will be at a later date. Any flowers, gifts or anything else you would like to send, please forward to:
