Grace Estrada Wright, born on June 8, 1938, in Los Angeles California, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her bedside at Marion hospital, just a few miles from her hometown of Lompoc. And though she possessed a heart of gold and was loved by all who knew her, in the end, it was that same heart that failed her. However, during her yet to be fully diagnosed illness, she never complained and was the favorite among her nurses and doctors.
Grace was the eighth child of ten children, born to Guadalupe and Yreno Estrada. Both from Mexico, they met, fell in love and moved to California. That faithful meeting would change the lives of so many warm and wonderful people, which could only represent a divine influence.
In the early 1970s Grace found herself alone and unemployed with two children to feed. At times she even had to work three jobs just to make ends meet. In fact, by the end of 1971, she had moved her small family five times that year, but she always made sure that her kids had a roof over their heads, food on the table, clothes on their backs and most importantly, an unconditional love that would last a lifetime. She finally found her true calling when she received her special State of California Handicap Educational License and started teaching handicap students in special education programs. She also enjoyed the passenger program that drove the students to and from the campus in their favorite small yellow school bus.
Grace Estrada Wright was a wonderful, loving and passionate woman, who will be missed.
She leaves behind her daughter, Maria Elena San Miguel, her son Gil (Gino) San Miguel and her grandsons Andres and Anthony San Miguel.
A celebration of Grace's life will be announced at a later date.
