Gussie Dove
1922-2008
On May 10, 1922, Gussie Dove was born to Theodore and Lizzie Johnson of Fernandina Beach, Florida. She was the youngest of six children. Gussie married her childhood sweetheart, Horace Dove, on September 12, 1940. Together, they had four children: Horace, Jr., Donald, Ophelia, and Dorothy. In November 2002, due to extreme health problems, it became necessary for them to move to Lompoc, California to be attended to by their children. The forces of failing health overtook Gussie in the morning hours of Saturday, August 16, 2008 when she passed away in death as she slept.
She is survived by her husband, their four children, twelve grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, three nephews, five nieces, along with many grand and great nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her siblings.
Gussie will long be remembered as a loving wife and mother, faithful friend, kindly neighbor, zealous minister and servant of Jehovah God. She was a woman of great character and strength. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 705 N. Fourth Street, Lompoc, CA.
