Ignatius H. Hanneke of Lompoc died Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at the age of 88.
Hank was born November 2, 1920 in Saint Louis, Missouri. He joined the United States Navy and served in World War II. He then joined the U.S. Army where he retired with the rank of Major.
After completing his education at the University of Nebraska Hank became a civil servant in the U.S. government. He was also a bus driver for the Lompoc City Schools for many years.
Hank enjoyed tennis traveling and riding his bicycle.
Hank was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Laura lee Hanneke in 1999. He is survived by his daughters Ann Palmer of Monument, Colorado, Susan Jernigan of Grape Vine, Texas, son David Hanneke of Modesto, four grandchildren, Charles Palmer, Erika Palmer, Jonathan Hanneke and Spencer Hanneke and two brothers.
There will be a visitation on Friday, January 30, from 5 to 7 pm at the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Cremation will be followed by private interment in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
