Obituary

Hal Goodlad, beloved friend, cherished family member, respected commander, decorated veteran and philanthropist passed peacefully away on Tuesday, December 9, 2014.
Ninety three years ago Hal Goodlad was born in Stickney, South Dakota. A career military man, Hal honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1943 until he retired as a Colonel in 1974. After moving more than twenty times during his distinguished Air Force career, he and his wife Harriett Goodlad enjoyed settling down to become long-time residents of Lompoc, California. Hal and Harriett enjoyed attending Air Force reunions all over the country and kept in close touch with many of their wonderful Air Force friends.
Hal Goodlad was loved and admired by many people. He had an amazing memory, an unsurpassed interest in history, current events and in his fellow men and women. Hal was a great listener and advisor. He loved playing golf. Our beloved "Uncle Hal" is survived by Nancy Goodlad, Lisa Goodlad, Lynn Goodlad, John E. Goodlad, Jr., Kent Sokolow and Gale Nickelbein, as well as their respective children.
There will be a service for Hal Goodlad at Our Lady Queen of Angels Church at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2015. The service will be followed by an Honor Guard ceremony at Lompoc Cemetery District and a dinner celebrating his life at Sage Restaurant at the Village Country Club. Please RSVP for his celebration of life dinner at Vandenberg Village Country, 805-733-3300, so that we may plan for all of Hal's friends. Hal Goodlad will be greatly missed.
