Husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Harry passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at the Comprehensive Care Center.
He was a man who loved to fish, hunt, go camping with his family and friends, watch all verities of sports, both live and on television and share all his past experiences with friends. Harry was a devoted husband to Mary, his loving wife and partner for 65 years.
He is survived by his wife Mary, son Larry Ostini, daughter Susan Ostini, daughter-in-law Ann Ostini, granddaughter Jennifer Drayton, and nephew Ken Ostini.
He served in the United States Army from May 1945 to December 1946 as a military policeman with the 34th Infantry Regiment. He earned the rank Staff Sergeant while serving his country in the occupied territory of Sacsebo, Japan. After being discharged from the Army he married and lived and worked in Lompoc. In 1949 Harry and Mary moved to the family ranch on Highway 246 where they lived and worked for 29 enjoyable years. In 1978 they retired and moved back to Lompoc.
Harry was an active member of the Lompoc Elks and American Legion, where he spent many enjoyable hours playing pool, cards, talking with friends and volunteering many hours to one of his prized talents of barbequing.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery pavilion at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elks Major Project in care of Lompoc Elks Lodge 2274, 905 East Ocean or the American Legion, William Bill Proud, post 211. 630 North H Street, Lompoc, CA 93436.
