Hazel F. Howerton, 96, of Lompoc passed away on Friday, February 11, 2011. She was born on November 27, 1914 to Manuel and Rose Dutra. She was educated in Lompoc; she married Stan Howerton and had three children.
Hazel loved to travel and covered the USA and Canada. She was a familiar sight walking the neighborhood. She loved social events (especially if they involved her grandchildren), spirited conversations and settling down with a good book. She was a gentle lady who lived a good life and was loved by all.
She is survived by her son, Alfred (Joyce) Howerton; daughters, Maxine (Malcolm) Hearne and Patricia Grossi; grandchildren, Chris, Jon and Mike Howerton, Tom Hearne, Todd Grossi, Candace Hampton and Nicole Morse; 20 great-grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren; brother, Frank (Emily) Dutra and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stan Howerton; 6 brothers, a sister and a great-grandson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 19th at 1pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, 123 North A Street in Lompoc.
