Mrs. Carter was born in York, South Carolina December 28, 1925 to Bernard V. and Vivian M. Miller. Mrs. Carter lived her childhood and young adult years in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 1956 she married her husband Samuel Carter and moved to California where she lived until 2002 when she lost her beloved husband Sam. At that time she moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with her daughter Andrea Ziencik and her son Jimmy.

Mrs. Carter was an active member of the Elks Lodge in Lompoc and the local camping club. She worked in the Lompoc School system until her retirement.

Mrs. Carter is survived by her two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Burbridge of Cedar City, Utah and Mrs. Grace Munday of Leesburg, Florida. She is also survived by a daughter Andrea Ziencik and her husband Jimmy of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, a son Donald Post and his wife Cathy of Wingate, North Carolina. Mrs. Carter has three grandsons and five great grandsons.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary followed by interment in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Pastor Travis Collins of the Lompoc Valley Baptist Church and members and officers of the Elks Lodge #2274 will officiate.
