Vigil services for Henrietta "Katie" Rojas, 88, of Lompoc, will be 7 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2009 at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.

Henrietta was born May 4, 1921 in Georgetown, Texas to Refugio and Eloisa Soto Castillo. She moved to Lompoc at an early age lived here for over 70 years. During the 80's, she worked at the Rape Crisis Center and was a longtime member of both Queen of Angels and La Purisma Catholic Churches. Katie was a longtime homemaker, who enjoyed cooking, sewing, collecting Barbie Dolls, sewing Barbie clothes. She also loved music, dancing and playing guitar.

Henrietta left this world at her home surrounded by loved ones on Friday June 26, 2009.

Survivors include daughters, Gloria Cabos and Della Huerta both of Las Vegas, Linda Arevalos, Nena Valdivia and Beabea Reyna all of Lompoc, and Lisa Rojas of Orcutt; brother, Rey Castillo of Lompoc; sister, Frances Gonzales of Lompoc; 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents, sons, Mike Rojas and Edward "Lalo" Rojas, sister, Molly Martinez and brother David Castillo.

In lieu flowers, the family has asked that donations for funeral expenses be made in her name, Henrietta (Katie) Rojas at Santa Barbara Bank & Trust.

Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
