Henry Douglas Culmer of Lompoc, California passed away on September 10, 2023, at the age of 84. He was born in Miami, Florida on November 25, 1938, to Charles and Myrtis Culmer. Henry grew up with many siblings. He met and married Sonia Batson in May 1962 in Richland, South Carolina. They had four children.

Henry joined the United States Air Force in 1962 and was stationed in Mildenhall, UK. He was relocated to Vandenberg Air Force Base in 1964 and remained there for a few more years. Henry also worked for Philco Ford in the late 196Os.

Henry started a teaching career at May Grisham Elementary School in Orcutt, California after leaving the service. He taught 1st-4th grade. He spent 29 years teaching at May Grisham Elementary School before retiring in 1999.

He also attended Saint Mary's Episcopal Church in Lompoc. He enjoyed being a lay reader for many years.

He is preceded in death by his parents Myrtis and Charles, his wife Sonia, and his youngest son Cory.

He is survived by his sons Ronald Culmer (Diana), Samuel Culmer, and daughter Lisa, and grandsons; Jonathon Silva (Katie), Joshua Culmer and fiancé Clare Schachtely, and his brother Donald. He leaves behind his nieces Paula and Paulette Culmer and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a service held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Lompoc. More information is forthcoming.
