Obituary

Hermine was born on March 2, 1919 and raised near Bonn, Germany the middle child of three girls. At age 16, she emmigrated to the United States with her family. They settled in New York City where she met and married Anton Egle in 1938. The couple moved upstate to rural New York State and had one child, Hedy. Together they bought, lovingly restored and lived in two old rural Colonial-era homes. In 1959 they moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico to live near their daughter and first grandson. Hermine and Anton operated a painting & decorating business there until 1972 when they retired and moved to Lompoc. They both loved fishing at Lopez Lake and the Pacific Coast and enjoyed many camping trips to the Southwest and Northwest. Hermine was also a very talented artist, craftswoman and doll-maker, winning many awards for her creations. After nearly 50 years of marriage, Anton died in 1989. She joined the Hospice Widows Group, where she later served as a board member. Hermine was always ready to help out wherever there was a need, but also loved to have fun. She and her friends were regulars at the dances at the Half Century Club. During the last four years of her life she resided at Lompoc Hospital's Comprehensive Care Center.

She died on September 29, 2010 at the age of 91 at the Comprehensive Care Center.

She is survived by her daughter Hedy Damery and grandson John Anton Kiernan, both of San Luis Obispo; sister Hedwig Blohm of Lompoc; and long-time companion Kenneth Harris of Lompoc.

As she wished, there will be no services.
