IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Inez Houtz
Heath
July 13, 1934 – December 16, 2022
Inez Houtz Heath, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, peacefully passed on Friday, December 16, 2022. She was born July 13, 1934, in Roosevelt, Utah to Sylvia Powell and Kleber Randall Houtz. Growing up on a rural farm during the Depression, Inez learned the principles of hard work, sacrifice, faith in God and country.
Inez graduated in 1952 from Union High School in Roosevelt, Utah. She continued her educational pursuits at Dixie Junior College in St. George, Utah. She transferred to Kansas City, Missouri for a year before moving back to Utah. She worked two years at Holy Cross Hospital as an x-ray technician. While working and living in SLC she met her future husband, Robert Mitchell Heath. They were married for time and all eternity on August 21, 1957, in the Salt Lake Temple.
They began their married life in Los Angeles as Inez continued to work so Bob could finish dental school at USC. In 1960, they chose Lompoc as the perfect place to raise their family of eventually six children and start their dental practice.
As a dedicated stay-at-home mother of a large family, Inez worked for 55 years as the business manager for Heath Family Dentistry. She was an active member of the Republican Women's Club. She served in many capacities within the PTA and was a supporter of Lompoc Community Concerts Association for decades.
As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she had many opportunities to serve the Lord. Inez was a diligent teacher and had leadership roles within the Primary, Young Women and Relief Society organizations, she was able to share her love for the scriptures while teaching three years of early morning seminary to high school-aged students. The highlight of a lifetime of service was the 13 years she and Bob spent serving together in the Los Angeles Temple.
Inez was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings: Robert, Naomi, Leah, Josie, Duayne and Melpha. She is survived by her loving children: Michele (J. Leland Elmer), William (Rebecca Ravsten). Carolyn (Ross Stenquist), Douglas (Holly Facer), Bradley (Deborah Killpack), and Fredrick (Tiffany Rhine); 25 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. We will miss her wit, never-give-up attitude and wise counsel.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, from 4-7 pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, 123 North A Street, Lompoc, California. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1312 West Prune Avenue, Lompoc, California. Viewing at 10 am with a Memorial Service beginning at 11 am. Gravesite dedication will immediately follow.
