Irma was born April 30, 1936 in Heavner, Oklahoma to Tony and Ozella Azlin. She moved to Lompoc from Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1973 and attended the Lompoc Church of Christ. She had been a member of the Church of Christ for 59 years. She worked as a teller at Bank of America for 20 years and then as a private bookkeeper for ten years. Irma enjoyed cooking, motorcycle riding, fried chicken, working with ceramics, collecting thimbles and was a great domino player. Following in the footsteps of her mother, she was an avid quilter. She loved her family, loved to laugh, loved her friends, and had a twinkle in her eyes. She served a great meal and above all, she served her Lord.
She went to her reward in Heaven December 30, 2007 after a sudden illness while on vacation.
The family she leaves includes her husband of 54 years, Wendell Minyard of Lompoc; son, Jeff Minyard and wife SueMarie of Lompoc; daughter, Wendi Rupp of Lompoc; grandchildren; Brandon Pollock, Kacey Monreal, Kaitlin Minyard, and C.J. Jones; three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
It is requested by the family that contributions be made to the Church of Christ Flower Fund in lieu of flowers for the ceremony or a charity of choice. Thank you.
