Jack (John) Edward Midgley
On Sunday February 28, 2010, John stood straight and tall for the last time.
Jack was born May 29, 1928 in Bronx, New York, and has been a long term resident of Lompoc since 1962. WWII veteran, greyhound racer and government civil engineer from which he earned retirement in 1988. Jack spent his retirement, jogging the streets of Mission Hills, tending his garden, challenging his mind, and watching his favorite teams the Oakland A's and the Lakers. His greatest joys in life were his family, children and grandchildren.
John leaves behind his wife Mary of 52 years, brother Donald Midgley and seven children Electrical Engineer John Midgley, Civil Engineer Katherine Mc Cunney, Business Owner Mark Midgley, Correctional Officer Matthew Midgley, Educator Mary Zellmer, Government Agent Elizabeth Hamilton Midgley, and Sports Coach Patrick Midgley. Beloved grandfather of eleven grand children.
Viewing Thursday March 4, 2010 from 4pm – 8pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Gravesite services Friday March 5, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Lompoc Cemetery. In leiu of flowers the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society.
