Obituary

Jack Kaper, born in Indonesia, on Dec. 28, 1928, died in Lompoc, Aug. 16, 2013.
Our dad has finally been reunited with our mom. For seven years, he has missed her greatly. His teenage years during WWII were spent in a Japanese prison camp in what is now Indonesia. His incredible strength, courage (and stubbornness) helped him to survive those years. After the war, in 1946 he joined the Dutch Air Force, and in 1950, still in the Air Force, he moved to Holland, where he met and married Janny. In 1960, mom and dad, with 3 young children, immigrated to the US. His work for Continental Airlines as an aircraft mechanic gave us the opportunity to travel to many states in the US, and to see family and friends in Europe, Canada and Australia, these are memories we will always treasure.
Dad taught us the value of honesty and hard work, and that above all else, family is precious.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Janny, in 2006.
Survived by sons, Jack Martin of Whittier, John Harry (wife Becca) of Grass Valley, daughter Ingrid of Lompoc, and five grandchildren, Annamieke, (Ian), Hayley, Logan, Kenzie, and Delaney, and numerous nieces, nephews, brother's-in-law, and sister's-in-law in California, Holland, and Australia.
Our love and appreciation go to the wonderful staff at Lompoc Hospital and Comprehensive Care Center of Lompoc who made the last 3 1/2 a little easier. They became family in those months.
