Obituary

Jack Arthur Landis passed at home with his daughter Kathy Badrak near his side on April 13, 2024, at the age of 94 years old.  Jack is survived by his siblings, Diane Trimble and Ray Landis, his three daughters, Kathy Badrak, Sara Nagler and Faith Conseur, four grandchildren, Beth Badrak, Lee Badrak, Arianna Conseur and Tamaron Conseur, and five great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Jack was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio where he graduated from Northridge High School in 1948.  Jack was active in the church and was always singing and at one time was part of the family barbershop quartet.  He was active in the Dayton Community Theatre, Dayton Playhouse and Dayton Theatre Guild, where he worked with lighting, set building, and sound.

Jack discovered his true passion in working with stained glass in 1969.  He lived in the Oregon Historic District in downtown Dayton, where he owned and operated The Landis Art Glass Studio, creating new windows for homes and repairing church windows.  Jack's window creations can still be found in many of the Dayton homes and churches.

He eventually moved to California to be a part of opening up the first tool rental department for the Home Depot in Lompoc, California.  In Lompoc, Jack volunteered with the Lompoc Valley Historical Society doing research on the Sybil Marston Shipwreck and history of the area.  Ever the artist, he discovered a new passion for acrylic painting.   Jack could be seen many times taking pictures and painting sunsets over the ocean at Lompoc Surf.

The family asks for donations to be made to the Lompoc Valley Art Association or the Lompoc Valley Historical Society.  To celebrate Jack, the family asks that on June 16 (his birthday) for all to go out and have his favorite meal; a hamburger, an order of fries and a root beer.
