Vigil services for James C. Clark, 90, of Lompoc, will be 5 p.m. Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. John Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Clark was born July 17, 1918 in Ft. Worth, Texas to James and Maude Clark. He served in the United States Marine Corp during WW II and honorably discharged in 1945. James earned a master's degree in education and later graduated from medical school in Honduras. He moved to Lompoc in 1959 from Los Angeles and was an educator for many years. His favorite pastimes included reading, writing, helping people and volunteering time at the La Purisima Mission.
He died Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Lompoc Valley Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Marcelina Clark of Lompoc; sons, Juan Carlos Clark of Taft, Calif. and Louis Clark of Reno, Nevada; daughters, Linda Clark of Lompoc and Nola Chavoya of Eureka, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
Visitation hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
